Saw some weird keyword rankings on Page 2 and Page 3 of Google results for some select queries this evening. Wondering if Google is testing limiting the amount of results on secondary SERP pages for increased CTR’s or other purposes.
Here’s an example of one of the searches. You can see from the image it is “page 2” and I’ve included the search box and the recommended searches at the bottom so you can see all 7 results. No other edits have been made to the screenshot.
I checked for recent stories about this and couldn’t find anything… wondering if it’s completely new or if they’ve been testing these SERP results for awhile.
Impact of the change: Ranking tools and SERP reporting tools may report your rankings and which page they are on incorrectly.
